Hi folks! Welcome to the ride board. Folks who have signed up for Wild Earth also sent their ride share info along, and I'll be posting some of those rides available-rides needed here. Ride shares are a great way for drivers to share gas and ferry costs, and for hitchhikers to get an express trip. In case we don't have the funds to rent a van or commandeer a school bus, ride shares will be the way to go for many Wild Earthlings.

Hello! At least two of my best friends and I are travelling from Hornby Island to Wild Earth this year and it would be so awesome if we could organize a ride with somebody.

We could meet you anywhere around the Buckley Bay/Courtenay area. We're travelling on July 1st and we will most likely be at Wild Earth for the entire duration of the gathering and will be needing a ride back as well.

First time wild earth'er looking for a ride from victoria. I'm flexible on dates and times but am thinking Anytime July 1 returning whenever (around the 7th!).

You could bus to Sooke #61 I think and hitch from there or perhaps take the West Coast Trail bus from Victoria to Port Renfrew

a friend told me its a 6 hr bike, he's in pretty decent shape (rides everywhere and does little island trips) so i'd give yourself a long day

renfrew is definately hitchable, though not a hiway in terms of how busy it is, but it is a decent area to get picked up.

any word on shuttles in from renfrew? i'm gonna guess ppl will be coming in and out, but it would be a good idea ot have a look see every once in awhile if no one's come and gone for awhile.

fyi it is possible to drive in from cowichan. i've done it in a station wagon but kinda screwed up the underside. (this is where you can tell i know alot about cars)

and i also recommend those backroads of bc books, a lot of the info has changed but the sooke-renfrew-cowichan roads are the same.

Greetings!

I am in need of a ride from Vancouver, Victoria or Nanaimo. I can leave as early as June 30 and as late as July 2. A friend and WE veteran of 5+ years just phoned me from Texada to let me know that he won't be available to hitch the ride with me. This is my first WE and I'm slightly nervous about what's in store for me there. The plan had originally been to spend Canada Day in Van at the Battle of the Bowls skateboard competition at Seylynn to see if anyone could pull kill bmx (literally jump 20+ feet in the air into a gnarly bowl) and head over for the last ferry and try hitching a ride as close as possible that night. That plan isn't happening anymore though.

So here I am, I've done a rideshare for my past 4 Shambhala's (I'm skipping 6 in a row for my first WE!!!!) and it's always ended up working out. I have 1 fairly large pack which has a smaller one (can sit on my lap) attach to it. Mainly everything will be in those packs. My tent is very compact and will likely fit in my pack.

As far as a ride back? It'd be nice to help out taking stuff down but I'd have to be back by Wednesday evening for work Thursday morning.

I can be reached at sygoomei (sygyt and khoomei from tuvan throat singing) at shaw dot ca or 7 seven eight 230 five 6 seventy seven. I can have a variety of tunes ranging from the billboard 1941 hits through a variety of throat singing, Alan Lomax's 30's prison blues and into new age Amon Tobin, lullatone, cagey house and blaerg (anagram for garble). My tastes vary very widely so maybe you have a genre I can expand into. Let me know of a format which works and I'll do what I can! Gas $$ is a definite as well. I hope we won't be in a nasty SUV or some other gas guzzler though. My first rideshare for shambles was over $500 split between 2 people… I'd rather not make that mistake again…
